Success Stories

Helping small businesses, one loan at a time.

Wild Scoops was started May 2015 by Elissa Brown and Christopher Pike in Anchorage, Alaska. Their micro-creamery handcrafts small-batch ice cream, using natural Alaskan ingredients and other local products. With such flavors as Spruce Tip, Chokeberry Crunch, Whiskey Pecan, and Sage Birch Brittle, Wild Scoops has found a dedicated following in Alaska. After only a year in operation, the company had outgrown the commercial kitchen they shared with two other food businesses and needed to find a way to expand. Elissa and Christopher were connected to Evergreen Business Capital though Ryan Gilbert, Business Advisor of the Alaska Small Business Development Center in Anchorage. The loan they received for equipment and working capital purchases provided a substantial benefit to their business and helped increase production and, in turn, sales of their ‘wildly delicious’ products.

Outsider Comics & Geek Boutique was started in November 2016 by Jill and Reagan Taplin in Seattle, Washington. They offer intro bundles of comics by genre as well as other product lines that complement comic and geek culture. Items include high-end geek fashion clothes inspired by comic book characters, jewelry, as well as cosplay accessories and supplies. Customers can come to shop or participate in book clubs, art showcase events, creator readings/signings, RPG nights, and cosplay builds. Jill and Reagan were connected to Evergreen Business Capital through SBA LINC (now Lender Match), which connects borrowers with SBA-approved lenders. The loan they received for inventory and working capital purchases helped them open their doors to a world of geeky fun and fashion.
Urgent Care of Soldotna promotes the health and well-being of the residents of the Central Kenai Peninsula. They provide accessible, high-quality, medical urgent care for all people of all ages. The owners, Jeoff Lanfear and Shane Udelhoven were connected with Evergreen Business Capital Community Finance through Karl Heinz, Vice President/Regional Manager with First National Bank Alaska, Kenai, AK and received valuable assistance from Cliff Cochran, Business Advisor with the Alaska Small Business Development Center, Soldotna, AK. The Community Advantage Loan was a substantial benefit to Jeoff and Shane as it provided the funds to purchase equipment and working capital they needed to start their business.
